This product is NOT an aircraft model but a detail accessory. It is a resin set of main landing gear wheels in 1:48 scale from Eduard, intended as a swap for the plastic parts of a Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless kit. The wheels have a faithfully rendered tire tread and separate, cut-out rims; variants for covered rims are usually included as well.
Cast wheels offer sharper detail than injection-molded parts and can even suggest a slight weighted look where the tire meets the surface, which gives a model realistic presence when it stands on its wheels. Suitable for SBD-5 models built from the commonly available kits of this type in that scale.
First wash the parts to remove the mold release residue, cut the casting blocks off carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Do the sanding and the cleaning up with respiratory protection. We recommend spraying the resin with a primer before the finish coats.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
