A loose scenery material from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene. It contains laser-cut paper leaves with the typical lobed outline of an oak leaf, colored into dry brown and ocher-brown tones. The material therefore represents dry browned foliage, not a bare tree — the modeler obtains the armature separately, or uses the foliage straight on the terrain as fallen leaves.
Oak foliage is rewarding for forest and grove scenes, field margins, copses and for solitary trees along country tracks. The oak moreover often holds its dry leaves on the branches until spring, so the material also serves well for a partly foliated winter crown, where it creates a rusty brown veil among the bare branches. On terrain it suits ditches, the spaces between roots, the feet of walls and fences, and drifts on roofs or on the tarpaulins of parked vehicles.
Sprinkled foliage is fixed with thin white PVA glue diluted with water and a drop of dish soap, applied with a sprayer. Onto an armature the leaves are sprinkled into tacky glue in layers, so that the mass of the crown builds up; individual leaves are attached with tweezers and gel cyanoacrylate. The dry, weathered impression is helped by a fine dusting of gray-brown or ocher pigment and a final matte overspray.
The material is supplied as loose foliage. The glue, the tree armature and any further scenery accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
