Aires 1:48 – the Escapac 1G-3 ejection seat

A resin Escapac 1G-3 ejection seat in 1:48 scale for a model of the American A-4M and A-4N Skyhawk carrier-based attack aircraft. Aires is among the top makers of detailed cockpit accessories, and the seat usually comes with photo-etched belts and buckles. The casting faithfully captures the shell, the mechanism and the fine details that injection-molded plastic cannot manage.

Use and fitting

  • Wash the mold release residue off the seat and cut off the casting block.
  • It is glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate); shape the photo-etched belts with tweezers.
  • Pick the belts and handles out in color according to period photographs.
