Eduard 1:48 F-104C SPACE is a set of three-dimensional 3D decals for the cockpit of a Starfighter model in the F-104C version in 1:48 scale.

A set from the SPACE line by the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Lockheed F-104C in 1:48 scale. Three-dimensional decals are decals with a layered cured top surface: the panels get depth, the dials get raised glasses and the coloring is finished, so you never have to touch the cockpit with a brush. It is a decal and it is worked with as one. For the earlier F-104A version there is a separate set, because the cockpits of the two versions differ.
The C version served as a fighter-bomber and its cockpit is among the most closely watched places on a model. A plastic panel with shallow relief is replaced by a color-finished panel with real depth, and that without bending metal and without super glue. Compared with a photo-etched set the work is noticeably quicker and painting the tiny elements falls away.
The base is a smooth glossy surface, or a silvery halo will appear around the decal. The plastic relief under the decal is usually sanded smooth so that the part sits flat. Moisten only the backing paper with a sponge and a drop of dish soap, lift the element with tweezers and fix it with PVA glue (white glue). Do not use a decal softener, as its chemistry attacks the printed resin, and a thicker layer reacts differently from an ordinary decal. Do not paint the finished panels over; add a drop of clear varnish for the sheen of the dials if you want it.
This is an add-on set, not an aircraft model. The kit, paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
