Quickboost air intake covers for a model of the F-14 Tomcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement parts from Quickboost that close off the rectangular air intakes on a model of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat in 1:48 scale. On the real aircraft such covers are fitted once the machine is parked, so that dirt, small objects or birds cannot get into the intake ducts and reach the engines. On a model they therefore belong to a machine shown on the ramp, not to an aircraft in flight.
Covered intakes tell the viewer clearly that the machine is not flying, and a scene with ground crew or a tow tractor makes sense because of it. At the same time the work inside the intake ducts becomes much simpler: on Tomcat models these are long and hard to reach, and sanding and spraying them takes a lot of time. With the covers in place you cannot see into the depth of the ducts.
First try the parts dry in both intakes and carefully sand any overhang so that the cover seats all the way around and leaves no gap. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part. The parts are not polystyrene, so polystyrene cement has no effect on them; use super glue. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. It is best to paint them separately and fit them to the finished model.
The delivery consists of the air intake covers for this item. The kit, paints, decals and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
