A resin detail set from the Brassin line of the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory with which you replace the landing gear wheels of a plastic kit of the F-14A Tomcat fighter. The designation early refers to the early form of the wheels of this subject. The resin castings offer a finer tread pattern on the tires and finer hubs than injection-molded plastic usually provides.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American two-seat carrier-borne fighter with variable-geometry wings that served with the US Navy from the 1970s. The F-14A version was the first production variant and became famous as an interceptor protecting carrier groups at long range. The fine details of the wheels and tires are among the visually exposed places on a model.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut away the casting blocks and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. The wheels are usually cast with a hint of load (flattening at the point of contact), so when fitting them mind the correct rotation of the contact face toward the ground. Paint them separately from the aircraft and weather them as you are used to.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
