Kabuki tape masks 1:48 for the F-16A after the MLU upgrade and for the F-16C Block 25 and 42, ADVANCED scope from New Ware. A pre-cut painting aid, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masks in washi paper tape in 1:48 scale, intended for the single-seat versions of the F-16. The abbreviation MLU refers to the mid-life upgrade program that European aircraft of the original A series went through, while the Block 25 and 42 designations mark particular production batches of the C version. The ADVANCED level is this brand's middle scope of set, that is wider than BASIC and narrower than EXPERT. Check the exact contents against the box and the instructions supplied.
The F-16 canopy is a one-piece clamshell without a windshield frame, so the boundary between the clear part and the frame is a long smooth curve that is hard to cut out by hand. A pre-cut mask defines that curve unambiguously and repeats it identically on both sides. A wider scope of set usually adds further areas beyond the glazing, which saves time when painting the landing gear and other details.
Mask only on a perfectly cured base and work in a dust-free space. Press the edges down with a toothpick; on a long curve work in short lengths and do not stretch the mask, or it will pull back after being stuck down. Lay the paint on in thin coats; a heavy pass leaves a visible step at the edge. After lifting the masks, check the frames against the light and touch up any small spots with a fine brush. Keep the rest of the sheet in a sealed bag; it comes in handy for masking other models.
The package holds masks only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
