The centenary of the Belgian 1 Squadron Stingers on the F-16AM machine FA-132, the period 1917 to 2017; decals for 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Belgian first fighter squadron bears the nickname Stingers and a wasp in its badge. For its centenary jubilee it received a painted F-16AM machine with the code FA-132 in 2017. The span of the years 1917 to 2017 given in the name of the sheet is arithmetically faultless, the difference gives a round hundred years, and the anniversary thereby verifies itself without further sources having to be looked up.
The abbreviation F-16AM means a single-seat Fighting Falcon after a life-extension program. The Belgian machines went through it at the turn of the millennium and received a new cockpit, modernized avionics and the ability to work with new types of armament. Belgian fuselage codes on single-seat examples begin with the two letters FA, so FA-132 designates one particular aircraft, not a production block.
The wasp motif usually passes over the edges of the ailerons and the fin, where the film is under strain. Divide the artwork into smaller pieces, use plenty of water and let each piece go off before you press it down with a swab. Finally unify everything with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat.
Painted examples as a rule fly for only one season and then return to ordinary gray. A scale version tends to be the only way to keep such a guise permanently, and that is why collectors look for sheets like this as well.
