The set is intended for a model of the two-seat version of the F-16 in 1:48 scale and concentrates on the interior. It contains pre-painted photo-etched parts, that is, above all the instrument panels and the seat belts, complemented by further metal details of the cockpit. The aircraft model is not part of the package; the set is built into a kit bought separately. In its scope it belongs among the fuller interior sets rather than among the simplified single-fret variants.
Modern fighters have cockpits full of displays, panels and controls, and that is exactly what is most on show on a model with the canopy open. A plastic panel with suggested dials looks coarse in 1:48 scale, whereas a printed photo-etched panel has a legible layout and the right thickness. On a two-seat machine the effect is doubled, because the rear station is just as visible as the front one.
The F-16I is a two-seat version of the F-16 developed for the Israeli Air Force on the basis of a late production batch. It is distinguished from standard machines by the conformal fuel tanks on the upper side of the fuselage and by an enlarged dorsal spine housing further avionics. The aim of the changes was greater range and extended equipment without the loss of hardpoints under the wing. The rear cockpit serves the second crew member, who operates the systems.
The pre-painted parts must not be oversprayed with paint or clear coat; the printing is finished. The plastic panels in the kit first have to be sanded flat so that the photo-etched part seats. Bond with super glue in drops applied with a pin, not with plastic cement. Seat the side consoles and the small levers with fine-jawed tweezers and work over a tray with a rim, as small parts like to flick away. Finish the cockpit and let it dry before you close the fuselage.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
