A replacement instrument panel for the model of the carrier-based F-35C Lightning II in 1:48 scale. A ready-made part with fine detail replaces the flat plastic part from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-35C is the carrier version of the F-35 Lightning II combat aircraft, built for operations from aircraft carriers. It is set apart from the other versions by a larger wing with folding tips, strengthened landing gear and an arrestor hook. The cockpit is modern and austere: most of the front area is taken up by one large display instead of a classic array of dials, so it is the instrument panel that decides how convincing the interior looks.
The set replaces the instrument panel of a model in 1:48 scale with a ready-made part carrying fine detail. It aims at one particular spot in the cockpit rather than at the whole interior, and it is therefore the quickest way to improve what is most visible under an open canopy. Which kit the part is cut for and how it is fitted is described in the manufacturer's instructions supplied with it.
Fit the panel before the fuselage is glued together, while the cockpit is accessible from all sides; once the fuselage is closed it cannot be moved. Try the part dry first to see whether it seats in the cockpit tub. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder down. The part is not polystyrene, so plastic cement will not work on it; use a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue. Wash and degrease the area before painting.
The set suits the modeler who is building an F-35C with the canopy slid back and wants the cockpit finished without laboriously painting small areas. Unless stated otherwise, the kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
