The F-35C is the carrier version of the F-35 Lightning II made for operations from aircraft carriers; it can be told by its larger wing with folding tips, strengthened landing gear and an arrestor hook. Instead of an array of classic gauges its cockpit has one large display, so the interior stands or falls on how convincing the front panel and the side consoles look.
The elements of the SPACE range are color 3D decals with no adhesive layer of their own. Only the backing paper is moistened, best with a sponge and a drop of detergent; you then lift the film off with tweezers, lay it in place and fix it with PVA, that is white, glue. The manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate, and do not use a decal softener. The material is pliable, so it follows the shape of the panel and of curved surfaces, and the instrument panel then reads as fully modeled rather than as stuck-on paper. The colors are printed, so picking out individual gauges and buttons with a brush is done away with.
Leave the surfaces under the decals smooth, dry and degreased, because on a rough finish the film holds worse. Move the elements with tweezers or the tip of a toothpick and press them down with a cotton swab from the center toward the edges. Fit the cockpit before you glue the fuselage, or you will no longer reach it. Leave the finished interior without a gloss varnish, because a flat overcoat will unify the look.
The set suits even a less experienced modeler: it gives a cockpit a look that hand painting in this scale would achieve only with difficulty, and it is quick to work with. Unless stated otherwise, the kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
