On a real aircraft, protective covers with warning flags are fitted where an unsecured opening or mechanism could cause damage: air intakes, sensors, probes and other exposed places. The flag is conspicuous precisely so that the crew cannot overlook the fact that the cover has to be removed before flight. On a model these are small but exceptionally rewarding elements: they add a splash of color, they say at once that the machine is on the ground, and at the same time they cover the places where a plastic kit tends to be weakest. They are fitted at the end of the build, so they can be added even to a model that is already finished.

Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent. On parts this small, cut the casting blocks off carefully with a razor saw or a new scalpel and level the face only gently; when sanding resin, work wet and protect your airways. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, so that the glue does not run into the surroundings. The covers and the flags are painted in bright warning shades; small lettering can be suggested with a fine brush or with a decal if you have one. Fit the set at the very end, after weathering and the matte varnish.
