A detailed resin set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, from the Brassin range, which replaces the engine exhaust nozzles on a model of the American McDonnell Douglas F-4B Phantom II fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. The set contains faithfully cast nozzles for both engines together with photo-etched parts. This is not an aircraft kit, but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers.
The F-4 Phantom II was one of the most successful American twin-engine fighter-bombers of the second half of the twentieth century. The F-4B version was an early naval variant operated from the decks of aircraft carriers. It was powered by two J79 turbojets, whose characteristic exhaust nozzles are a prominent detail on every model.
Wash the resin nozzles free of mold release agent, separate them from the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The metallic shades that appear on the nozzles after use and heat discoloration are best reproduced with metallic paints and fine weathering. Use respiratory protection when sanding resin.
