A set of masks for spraying the landing gear bays of a Phantom II model in the F-4B, C, D, J and S versions in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the real aircraft the landing gear bays and their doors usually have a different shade from the surrounding surfaces, and it is exactly at the transition between them that careful work shows. The set of masks covers the bays and the adjoining surfaces of a 1:48 Phantom II model, so the edge between the colors stays crisp and you do not have to cover it laboriously with tape piece by piece.
According to the name the set covers the F-4B, F-4C, F-4D, F-4J and F-4S versions, that is the most widespread forms of the Phantom II in this scale. The shape of the bays does not differ fundamentally between them, so one set covers them all at once.
Lay the masks on a clean, degreased and dry surface before spraying and press the edges down carefully so that paint cannot flow underneath. Spray in thin coats and at right angles to the surface, not at an angle under the edge of the mask. Before you put the masks on, let the previous coat cure properly, because a mask sticks too firmly to fresh paint and may tear it off on removal. Once the paint has dried, lift the masks with tweezers or the tip of a knife, pulling them back over themselves rather than straight up. The exact order of the steps and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Anyone building a Phantom with the landing gear down who wants the bays cleanly separated from the lower surfaces without losing an hour cutting tape will appreciate it. The package contains the masks only; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
