A New Ware 1:48 mask set for the F-4E early and F-4EJ Kai Phantom II, ADVANCED grade — pre-cut kabuki masks in the middle scope.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of self-adhesive masking templates in kabuki paper for models of the two-seat Phantom II in the early-production F-4E and the Japanese F-4EJ Kai versions, 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for painting, not a kit. ADVANCED is the middle of the three scope grades New Ware uses for its sets — it is more comprehensive than BASIC, and the maker also runs both outer grades for the same aircraft.
The F-4 Phantom II is a twin-engine two-seat aircraft with a cranked wing with dihedral on the outer panels and with anhedral horizontal tail surfaces. The early-production F-4E version differs from the later machines in details of the forward fuselage and the equipment; the F-4EJ Kai is the Japanese upgraded variant. The glazing of the Phantom is made up of several separate parts with pronounced frames, so masking it is one of the most tedious parts of the build.
Apply onto fully cured, degreased and smooth finish. Lift the pieces with tweezers, lay them on dry and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick. Spray the glazing frames with a thin layer of the interior shade first and only then with the top camouflage. Apply the paint in several thin layers and take the masks off while the finish is not yet fully cured — older, completely dried paint tears away more easily when the mask is lifted.
The set contains only masking templates. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
