1:48 F-4E refueling boom is a 3D printed resin accessory from Eduard that replaces the parts of the in-flight refueling system on an F-4E Phantom II model in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a small resin accessory, not an aircraft kit. The parts are made by 3D printing from photopolymer resin, which allows finer shapes and sharper edges than injected plastic can manage. The set covers the in-flight refueling area on an F-4E Phantom II model in 1:48 scale. The maker is the Czech firm Eduard. Before buying, compare the accessory with the kit you are building; the list of parts is in the instructions for the set.
The F-4E Phantom II is a twin-engine two-seat jet combat aircraft that came about as a later production version of the Phantom family. It differs from the earlier variants among other things in the internal cannon in the front of the fuselage. Aircraft of this type were designed for in-flight refueling so that they could manage long transits and long periods over the target area. The fittings and covers connected with refueling are among the small but plainly visible features on a model.
First wash the 3D printed resin parts in lukewarm soapy water or in alcohol to remove uncured print resin residue, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut off the print supports with a fine-toothed saw or a fine disc; do not snap them. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust must not be inhaled. They are bonded solely with super glue (cyanoacrylate); cement for plastic does not work on resin. Apply a primer before painting. The parts are tiny and fragile, so work over a mat so that they do not get lost.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
