1:48 F-4G Phantom II canopy mask is a set of masking templates for the glazing of the cabin from Dead Design. The templates are cut exactly to the shape of the frame, so the cutting of masking tape by hand is done away with.

The set from the manufacturer Dead Design takes the place of the laborious and uncertain procedure by which modelers used to mask cabins before: stick masking tape over the whole glazing and cut the outline out along the frame with a scalpel. Here the shapes are already pre-cut and it is enough to pop them out of the backing and transfer them to the part. The set is intended for the glazing of the single seat position and of the rear cabin of the F-4G. It is not a model but an accessory to the kit you have.
A cut by hand has two weak points. The first is accuracy: a scalpel guided along a plastic frame with a slipped tip easily runs into the glass and nobody will repair the groove any more. The second is repeatability, because the left and the right side of a canopy look almost always different after being cut out by hand, and asymmetry shows on a finished model more than anything else. A pre-cut set gets around both troubles; the outlines are symmetrical and the knife does not touch the clear part at all.
Lift the templates out with tweezers with smooth jaws, so that the film is not creased. Settle them on the part dry, check against the light whether the outline sits on the frame, and only then press them down. If some shape overhangs a little, do not pull at it, but take the mask off and lay it on again. A film once folded and straightened out again will no longer seat. We recommend putting a base in the color of the interior under the frame, so that the resulting shade of the airframe is not greenish on the glass.
