A resin detail set from Aires in 1:48 scale that adds an open gun bay to the plastic kit of the Northrop F-5F Tiger II. The set contains finely cast parts for the gun bay together with the surrounding structure, so the model can be displayed with the gun bay uncovered. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a kit.
The F-5F is the two-seat combat-trainer version of the American Northrop F-5 light fighter. Because of the lengthened tandem cockpit it carried less gun armament in the nose than the single-seat F-5E. The type was powered by a pair of General Electric J85 engines and, thanks to its simplicity and agility, served with a number of air forces around the world.
First wash the parts to remove any mold release agent and separate them carefully from the casting blocks. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and resin should be sanded with your airways protected. The gun bay calls for opening the relevant panels in the plastic; bring the interior out with shading colors, a dry brush and a wash.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
