Aires 1:48 F3H-2 Demon gun bay is a resin detail set that opens up and faithfully renders the gun bay of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Aires resin detail set in 1:48 scale opens up and faithfully renders the gun bay of a model of the McDonnell F3H-2 Demon. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the smooth plastic surface with an open gun bay with ammunition, piping and supporting structure. Modelers who want to present a model with its technical details exposed will appreciate the set.
The McDonnell F3H Demon was a subsonic carrier fighter of the US Navy with a swept wing. The F3H-2 version with the Allison J71 engine served as an all-weather missile-armed interceptor and for attacks on ground targets, and carried its gun armament in the forward fuselage. The Demon was among the front-line equipment of the US Navy in the 1950s and became the direct predecessor of the F-4 Phantom II.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent from the mold. Separate the parts from the casting blocks by cutting, not by snapping, and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand the resin with respiratory protection or wet, because resin dust is harmful. Bring out the inner surfaces with a wash and a dry brush so that the structure and the piping show.
It is supplied as an unglued and unpainted resin set. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
