A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for a model of the F-4S Phantom II fighter. The product holds no plastic or resin parts — it is purely a marking set that widens the options for decorating a model. It suits both building a second example of the same type and replacing a damaged or yellowed sheet from the box.
The F-4S was created by upgrading older naval Phantoms. The program covered strengthening the structure, modifying the avionics and above all adding leading-edge slats on the wing, which improved maneuverability in a dogfight. The aircraft served with the navy and the marines until newer types replaced them, and they carried a varied range of markings from the striking colorful decoration of command machines to restrained low-visibility grays.
Before applying, let the base paintwork cure for several days — fresh paint is soft and a softener can attack it. Cut the sheet as close to the print as possible; with low-visibility gray markings any leftover gloss film shows more than on colorful decals. The soaking time is a matter of seconds: as soon as the decal slides freely on the paper, it is ready. On large areas work with plenty of water so that you can move the decal, and on small lettering, on the contrary, with a minimum. Once dry, check the edges against the light and polish out any haze with a drop of softener. The final coat of clear varnish will unify the sheen and prepare the surface for bringing out the panel lines.
It is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The aircraft model, paints and clear coats are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
