A photo-etched set in 1:48 scale for the model of the F4U-1D Corsair carrier fighter. The metal parts add the detail that plastic is too coarse for.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Corsair is among the best-known American carrier aircraft of the Second World War. You recognize it at first glance by its inverted gull wing, which allowed the main landing gear to be shortened under the large propeller, and by its long nose with a radial engine. The F4U-1D version differs from the earlier machines above all in a canopy with a good view to the rear and in the racks under the wing, thanks to which the aircraft carried drop tanks and unguided rockets as well as its guns. It served both as a fighter and as an attack machine.
These are photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Metal sheet holds its shape even at a thickness that cannot be achieved in plastic, so it suits features that should look thin and sharp. The manufacturer's instructions state which parts the set brings and where they belong on the model.
Before separating a part, get a hard surface and a new blade ready; a blunt blade bends the sheet instead of cutting through it. Make the bends in one go and along the whole length of the edge, as repeated bending tires the metal and the part cracks. Glue with super glue applied with a pin, so that the excess does not spread around. The metal surface is smooth, so degrease it before painting and lay a primer coat over it.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
