About product

Yahu Models F4U-5 Corsair 1:48 — colored instrument panel

A colored, finely photo-etched and laminated instrument panel from the manufacturer Yahu Models in 1:48 scale. It comes practically finished, with faithfully reproduced dial faces and labels, and replaces the plastic instrument panel. It is not a kit of an airplane but a detail accessory for advanced modelers.

The real subject

The F4U-5 was a late, postwar version of the carrier-based Vought Corsair fighter with a more powerful engine. The Corsair, with its characteristic inverted gull wing, was still in service in the Korean War, where it excelled as a ground-attack and escort aircraft.

Fitting and tips

Remove the plastic panel or level it off and glue the photo-etched part on with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The colored surface usually only needs knocking back to a matte finish; painting the instruments is not necessary.

Who it is for

  • Advanced modelers longing for a realistic cockpit
  • Builders of aircraft in 1:48 scale
  • Admirers of carrier-based Corsair fighters

This is a detail accessory, not a model of an airplane. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

No. It is a colored photo-etched instrument panel, that is a detail accessory for the cockpit, not a kit of the whole aircraft.

As a rule not. The surface is already finished in color; knocking it back to a matte finish or picking out details lightly is all it may need.

Super glue (cyanoacrylate) is recommended, onto a cleaned-up and leveled surface.
