This resin set brings finely cast details of the wheel wells for the F8F Bearcat fighter kit in 1:48 scale. It is not a stand-alone airplane model but an accessory that replaces the simplified bays from the plastic kit with a more faithful casting with a shaded structure of ribs, piping and stiffeners.
The Grumman F8F Bearcat was an American carrier-based fighter from the end of the Second World War, powered by a radial engine. It was created as a light and agile interceptor, and after the war it served with the navy and with other air arms. On a model with the landing gear exposed, well-rendered wheel wells are among the places that are prominently on view.
First wash the mold release residue off the parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces; protect your airways when sanding. Bond them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). We recommend painting the bays in a base color and picking out the details with a dark wash, which brings out the cast structure.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
