About product

The real subject

The F/A-18D is the two-seat version of the Hornet combat aircraft. The crew sits one behind the other under a common canopy and both cockpits can be seen well from the side, so on a model in 1:48 scale the interior cannot be skimped on: bare surfaces with no drawing admit at first glance that there is nothing under the canopy. The word early in the name refers to the early version of the machine.

What the set contains

Pre-colored three-dimensional interior elements of the Quinta brand, according to the name made by 3D printing. The instrument panels, the side consoles, the controls and the labels have relief and come finished in color, so painting tiny dials with a brush falls away. The set is prepared for the kit from the firm Hasegawa in 1:48 scale and the name marks it as the smaller version. Which range of panels it contains is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

How to apply the elements

The sheet is dipped briefly in lukewarm water, the element slides off the backing paper and holds on gloss varnish; it has no adhesive layer of its own and you should not use a decal softener. First spray the surface under the elements, let it dry perfectly and rid it of dust and grease. Cut the individual pieces out with a sharp blade, carry them with fine-tipped tweezers and set them at the first attempt; repeated shifting does their surface no good. Finish both cockpits before you close the fuselage and fit the canopy, because afterwards you will not get inside.

Who it is for

For builders of modern combat aircraft who want both cockpits legible and at the same time do not want to go into minute work with a brush. The fitting is careful rather than demanding; tweezers, a sharp blade and plenty of light are useful. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Yes, the sheet is dipped briefly in lukewarm water and the element slides off the backing paper. It holds on gloss varnish; do not use a decal softener.

It is prepared for the F/A-18D kit from the firm Hasegawa in 1:48 scale. On another kit the shape of the panels need not match.

The elements come finished in color. It is advisable, though, to spray the surface under them beforehand, so that bare plastic does not show through anywhere.

The name marks it as the smaller variant. The exact scope, that is which panels it contains, is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
