Quickboost 1:48 Fairey Swordfish Mk. I — exhausts is a resin detail set that replaces the plastic exhaust stacks with faithfully cast parts with hollowed outlets.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set in 1:48 scale adds realistic exhaust stacks to a model of the Fairey Swordfish Mk. I carrier biplane. It is not an airplane kit, but an accessory that replaces the simplified plastic exhausts from the box with finely cast parts with hollowed outlets. The set is intended for more experienced modelers.
The Fairey Swordfish was a British carrier-borne torpedo and reconnaissance biplane powered by a Bristol Pegasus radial engine. It was nicknamed Stringbag and, despite its seemingly outdated look, it won fame in the Fleet Air Arm, among other things in the attacks on the Italian fleet and in the hunt for the battleship Bismarck. Faithful exhausts on the radial engine underline the period character of this machine.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent from the mold. Separate the stacks from the casting blocks by cutting, not by snapping them off, and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Sand the resin with respiratory protection or wet, because resin dust is harmful to health. Spray the exhausts in a dark metal shade and bring out the burnt tones with washes and pigments.
It is supplied as an unassembled, unpainted resin set. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
