An unpainted figure of a German paratrooper, that is a member of the Fallschirmjäger, with its subject in Normandy in 1944. Scale 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
The German airborne troops, the Fallschirmjäger, came about in the second half of the 1930s, and from 1941 the German army committed their men mainly as ground infantry. At first glance they were set apart by a helmet without a markedly drawn-out peak or rim and by the loose smock worn over the uniform, which carried the equipment close to the body. In Normandy in 1944 the fighting took place in country divided by high banks and hedgerows, where it was carried on at short range and where the infantry spent most of its time moving on foot off the lanes. That setting is the natural surrounding for this figure.
A figure of a German paratrooper in 1:48 scale, unpainted and meant for completing a model or a scene. The number in the name tells the individual items within the range apart, so the figures can be placed side by side into a group. In 1:48 scale a figure one hundred and seventy-five centimeters tall in reality measures about three and a half centimeters, which already allows the face and the equipment to be worked out.
Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the figure and sand the remainder gently, then wash and degrease the figure. Apply the paint in thin layers, start from the darker tones and bring out the edges of the folds with lighter tones. A dark wash will settle the shadows into the folds of the smock and into the equipment. Before you glue the figure onto a base, try the stance dry so that the feet come down over their whole surface.
For modelers who build dioramas and display scenes in 1:48 scale. Paints, glue and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
