An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter FM-2 Wildcat in 1:48 scale from the production of the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The FM-2 was the version of the Wildcat built by the Eastern Aircraft division of the General Motors corporation, and you recognize it by its taller vertical tail. The kit is notable for fine engraving and a detailed cockpit; depending on the particular edition the package may hold photo-etched parts and masks and offer several marking options. The Grumman F4F Wildcat was the basic American carrier fighter of the early Second World War. The FM-2 version was a lightened and more capable variant built by General Motors above all for service from smaller escort carriers. It received a more powerful engine and a modified, taller tail for better handling. The Wildcats proved themselves in the fighting in the Pacific and escorted convoys as well as strike formations.
Paint the cockpit and pick it out before closing the fuselage up; any photo-etched parts will raise the detail of the instrument panel and the belts. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and mask the clear cabin canopy while spraying (if masks are in the package, make use of them). Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, put the decals on over a gloss varnish and pick the engraved lines out with a wash. Wear matching service from a carrier deck suits it.
