1:48 F.M.A. IA-58A Pucara canopy paint Masks is a set of painting masks for the cockpit glazing, not a kit. It makes it possible to spray the frames of the canopy cleanly on a model in 1:48 scale.

This item is an accessory for the build, not a model of the airplane. The set contains painting masks cut to the shape of the cockpit glazing; they are stuck on the clear part, oversprayed with the color of the frames and taken off once the paint has dried. The Pucara has a long two-seat canopy with a prominent windscreen and several dividing frames, so masking is one of the visible operations of the whole build. The set is made by Metallic Details.
The F.M.A. IA-58 Pucara is an Argentine twin-engined turboprop ground-attack aircraft intended for supporting ground forces, for reconnaissance and for counterinsurgency. In design it is a low-wing monoplane with two turboprop engines on the wing, retractable nose gear and a crew sitting in tandem under common glazing. The IA-58A version is the basic production standard. The machine was designed for operating from short and unprepared strips, which matches the robust landing gear and the high-set cockpit with a wide view forward and downward.
Wash and degrease the clear part, so that the mask holds reliably. Take the masks out of the sheet with the tip of a sharp knife and transfer them with tweezers straight onto the areas that are to stay transparent. Press the edges down along the whole perimeter, and on the convex parts of the canopy work from the center toward the edges and form the curvature with a toothpick. Cut any uncovered sections from the waste material of the sheet or complete them with narrow masking tape. Overspray the frames first with the interior shade, then with the exterior finish, always in several thin coats. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, slowly and at a sharp angle.
The set contains only masking parts. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
