French Resistance - Fernand And Jean is an item of the figure range in 1:48 scale from Dynamo-Models, named after a pair of figures of the French resistance movement.
Responsibility details are not available.
The item belongs to the French Resistance range of Dynamo-Models and in its name joins two named figures, Fernand and Jean. Scale 1:48 matches the usual aircraft models and part of the military vehicle range, so the item is used in scenes around an aircraft, at a building or beside a vehicle. Figures that form a pair give a diorama a readable story - two people in conversation or at work together carry more story than a single figure.
The French resistance movement was not a single organization but a network of groups with differing backgrounds and aims. Its members stayed in civilian clothes, often went on living an ordinary life and came together for their activity in small groups in which people knew one another. It is precisely this feature that a pair of figures captures. The work consisted of gathering intelligence, sabotaging transport, spreading the illegal press and helping people on the run. After the Normandy landings in June 1944 the activity of the resistance rose markedly and the FFI units supported the advance of the Allied forces.
With a pair of figures it pays off to set the palettes apart so that they do not merge into each other - one figure in warmer brown tones, the other in cooler gray-blues. Keep the saturation low all the same; the civilian clothing of the time was not varied. Set the skin tones slightly apart as well, otherwise both faces will look the same. Turn the figures toward each other and aim the heads at a common point, so that the scene makes sense. Even the whole thing out with matte varnish and dust the lower trouser legs and the shoes with pigments to match the ground.
