An add-on set of gun bays for a model of the Gloster Meteor jet fighter in the Mk. 8 and Mk. 9 versions, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter to reach operational service, and in later versions it stayed with the air force long after the Second World War. The Mk. 8 version is its most widespread postwar form, with a lengthened fuselage and a new vertical tail. It carried its gun armament in the nose ahead of the cockpit, so once the service panels are opened the bays are clearly visible.
The set covers the gun bays, that is, the part of the airframe a kit usually leaves blanked off. An open nose is a rewarding way to give a model depth without having to take the whole airframe apart, and it goes well with an open canopy. The name states the Mk. 8 and Mk. 9 versions in 1:48 scale; what exactly the package contains and which kit the set is drawn for should be checked against the manufacturer's information on the box and in the instructions.
Count on having to cut the panels out of the fuselage; trace the outline first, drill a row of small holes along the inside and only then finish the cut with a sharp blade. Sand the edges flat and test the opening against the parts of the set before you glue anything. The parts are not polystyrene and cement for plastic will not bond them; use cyanoacrylate glue and degrease the surfaces. Wash them in lukewarm water with detergent before painting, and once painted bring out the detail with a dark glaze and a dry brush.
The package contains the add-on set described. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
