A goose in 1:48 scale as an accessory for dioramas. It belongs to the same series as the pig, the sheep or the cow with a calf, that is, among the farm animals used to bring rural scenes to life. A version for 1:72 scale exists in the same rendering, so the same subject can be used in a smaller scene as well.
Animals do more for a diorama than one would expect. A military or aviation scene has no scale of its own that a viewer would recognize at first glance, and that is exactly what an animal supplies: a goose in a yard, by a puddle or in the path of a passing vehicle says at once how big the scene is and where it takes place. At the same time it adds mood, because it brings a piece of everyday life into a tense situation. It can be placed by a fence, by a building, by a water trough or in the middle of a muddy track.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder back carefully. Choose a suitable glue according to the material of the part. Wash and degrease the figure before painting. In color you have a choice: a white domestic goose with an orange beak and legs, or a darker gray-brown rendering. The feathers look better when a weak dark wash is laid over the base and the edges are brought out with a dry brush. Seat the legs so that the figure stands firmly on the terrain, and mask the joint with grass or mud.
