A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the German Gotha Go 244B transport aircraft. It completes a model with fine details that plastic cannot capture.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gotha Go 244B was a German twin-engine transport aircraft of the period of the Second World War. It came about by powering the Go 242 cargo glider, from which it inherited the short fuselage nacelle with a large cargo compartment and the pair of tail booms. It was used to carry cargo as well as troops and its unusual silhouette makes it a rewarding piece for a collection.
It is a set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is made by etching thin metal sheet, so the parts carry fine detail and have a faithful thickness that cannot be achieved with injection-molded plastic. The scope of the sheet and which kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are joined to the sheet by thin bridges. Cut them through with a sharp blade on a hard surface and do not break them out, otherwise the part will be deformed. Make the bends in a bending tool or by pressing against the edge of a razor blade, always along the marked score. Photo-etch is bonded with super glue in a minute amount; on larger clear areas a glue for clear parts serves well, as it leaves time for fine-tuning the position. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal, otherwise the paint flakes off; a thin base coat works well. Work from the parts that go deepest into the model, so that the finished pieces do not get in your way.
The set is for modelers who want to take a model beyond the limit of what plastic offers and do not mind working with tweezers and a magnifier. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
