The set holds thin self-adhesive vinyl parts that are applied directly to the surface of a model and add small flat details that injection-molded plastic usually captures only shallowly or not at all. Unlike decals, this is a physical material with a thickness of its own, so once applied it creates a genuine, if very fine, relief on the surface. The package holds no model — it is an accessory for a Tomcat kit in 1:48 scale, which you have to have. The parts are shaped for the Tamiya kit.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, intended above all for the long-range defense of a ship formation. The F-14A version was the first production variant and formed the backbone of the carrier squadrons for most of their service. The surface of the real machine carried a range of overlapping panels, additional stiffeners and service panels, which on a model tend to be the least convincing part of the molding.
Apply them only to a finished, perfectly smooth and degreased finish — on a rough surface they hold badly and the edge lifts in time. Separate a part from its backing with the point of a scalpel rather than with your fingers, so that it is not deformed, place it dry and press it down with a soft rubber or wooden tip from the center toward the edges. If a part has to bend over an edge, warm the spot slightly with mildly warm air. Once everything is applied, fix it with a thin coat of clear in the chosen degree of sheen — the clear unifies the surface, hides the edge of the vinyl and keeps the parts in place even during later weathering.
