The F-14A Tomcat from Grumman is a twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-sweep wing. The pair of exhaust nozzles at the tail is its signature feature, and a kit usually deals with it by merely suggesting the interior space.
The set replaces the exhaust nozzles of the model in 1:48 scale, in the drawn-in, that is closed, form. The breakdown of the parts and the recommended seating are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The open form is released as a separate item.
The parts are not polystyrene and are glued with cyanoacrylate. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder flat, so that the glued surface seats without a gap. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will hold poorly on them. Paint the inner surfaces before you seat the replacement in the rear fuselage. Try the fit dry so that the outline of the nozzles carries on from the fuselage without a step.
The set suits modelers who want to work the tail of an F-14A model beyond what the kit offers. There are several variants of closed nozzles, so identify this one by the manufacturer's part number. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
