A detailed resin set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale intended to replace the cockpit on the plastic model of the Grumman F-14D Tomcat carrier fighter. The resin castings offer crisp edges, three-dimensional controls and surface detail that injection-molded plastic cannot manage, and they are completed by pre-painted photo-etched parts and decals. The cockpit of this two-seat aircraft is extremely visible under its large canopy, which makes this one of the most telling changes you can make to the model. The aircraft model is not included in the package.
The Grumman F-14D Tomcat was the last production version of the American carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing. Against the earlier versions it received new General Electric engines and extensively reworked avionics with digital systems and a new radar, which showed in the look of both crew stations as well: display screens appeared where older analog instruments had been. The type was withdrawn from operational service in 2006.
Cut the resin parts off the casting blocks with a saw or a cutter, and never break them off. Sand the cuts wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust must not be breathed in. Wash the parts in warm soapy water because of the remains of the mold release agent. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Make a dry run before fitting, as resin cockpit tubs often call for work on the inner walls of the fuselage so that the model can be closed without force. Pre-painted photo-etch is not oversprayed. Paint the interior, lay a wash into the recesses and pick the edges out lightly while everything is still accessible.
The package holds accessory parts only. The aircraft model, glue and paints are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
