A set of resin exhaust stack bundles made for a model of the American carrier-based fighter Grumman F6F Hellcat, in the F6F-3 and F6F-5 versions, in 1:48 scale. This is not a kit but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the plastic exhausts with finer castings. The Hellcat was powered by the massive Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine.
The cast exhausts have thin edges and open outlets that injection-molded plastic does not allow. They are fitted directly in place of the plastic parts and rank among the most effective small upgrades, since the exhausts are clearly visible on the fuselage and carry a pronounced exhaust-stain patina. The set covers both listed versions of the Hellcat.
Wash the resin parts free of release agent and remove the casting blocks with a saw or a hobby knife. Glue with cyanoacrylate (super glue). The exhausts look best when painted separately in metallic and rust shades, highlighted with pigments, and installed at the very end of the build.
This is an accessory set, not a model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
