This item is an accessory for a kit, not an aircraft model. The SPACE range from the Czech firm Eduard consists of 3D printed decals: the color and the shading are printed at the factory and the layer has height, so relief appears where the plastic part has only engraving. The set is intended for a model of the F6F-5 Hellcat fighter in 1:48 scale.
The F6F Hellcat is a single-engine carrier fighter of American manufacture with a radial engine, a kinked wing and a robust structure for operation from aircraft carriers. The F6F-5 version is a later production form of the type. The cockpit sits high, and with the canopy open a large part of the instrument panel and of the side consoles is visible from it.
The main gain is time. Painting the dials and the levers by hand in 1:48 scale is a job for several evenings, and the result stands or falls with brush control; here a finished color layer is laid down instead. Follow the manufacturer's instructions: clear the surface of dust and grease, moisten only the backing paper, separate the elements one by one, position them with tweezers and fix them with white PVA glue. Do not paint over them: the only thing recommended is a final matte clear coat to unify the sheen. Do not use a decal softener at all, as it attacks the printed resin and ruins the part. The ideal moment is before the fuselage halves are glued together, while the parts are still easy to reach.
