Grumman TBM-3 Avenger 1:48 from Academy: an injection-molded plastic kit of the US Navy carrier torpedo bomber with a roomy bomb bay, a detailed interior and a clear canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the TBM-3 Avenger carrier torpedo bomber in 1:48 scale from Academy. The model has finely engraved detail, a well-worked cockpit interior and gun turret, a roomy bomb bay, clear glazing parts and good decals for US Navy carrier squadrons.
The Avenger was a three-seat carrier torpedo and bomber aircraft of the US Navy from the Second World War. The TBM version was license-built by the carmaker General Motors (Eastern Aircraft), while the original TBF came from Grumman. The Avenger carried a torpedo or bombs in its roomy bomb bay and had a dorsal gun turret; it made its name above all in the fighting in the Pacific. It was the largest single-engine carrier aircraft of its day.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Finish the roomy interior and the gun turret and bring them out with a wash before closing the fuselage. The bomb bay can be built open with a torpedo or bombs inside. Mask the glazing for clean frames and spray the blue-gray naval camouflage with an airbrush over primer in thin coats.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
