This is an aftermarket detail set, not a model of an aircraft. It contains a 3D-printed replica of the British Mk.II reflector gunsight in a clear material in 1:48 scale. The part is intended for kits of the early versions of the Supermarine Spitfire from Eduard and replaces the simplified rendering of the gunsight from the kit.
The Mk.II reflector gunsight was the standard British fighter sight of the early Second World War. It projected a lighted aiming ring onto a tilted glass in front of the pilot. A faithfully made part is one of the most conspicuous features of the cockpit visible under an open canopy and lifts the realism of the interior considerably.
Separate the part carefully from the print supports and sand the surfaces gently. Glue the clear parts with cyanoacrylate in spots, so that they do not fog. The clarity of the glass can be brought out by polishing or with a thin coat of gloss varnish; the body of the sight is painted separately before it is glued into the cockpit.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
