Hats and a bowler hat in 1:48 scale are a small accessory for figures – civilian headgear for the figures in a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for figures, not a kit. It offers civilian headgear in 1:48 scale – hats and a bowler hat. They are used in two ways: they are put on a figure's head, or they are laid into a scene as a set-aside object on a hat stand, on a table or on the seat of a car. Civilian figures can do far more in a diorama than one more soldier, and with them it is the headgear that mainly determines the period.
The bowler hat, that is a stiff felt hat with a round crown and a narrow turned-up brim, belonged to city clothing from the second half of the nineteenth century and was still worn in the middle of the twentieth. Soft felt hats with a wider brim are then the typical headgear of the interwar and postwar period. Check the particular shape and the number of pieces on the packaging.
Cut the castings off the casting block with a fine-toothed saw, level the cuts and sand them down gently. Wash them in lukewarm water with a detergent before painting, so that they are rid of the release agent from the mold. They are glued with super glue; when replacing headgear, first level the crown of the figure's head. Felt is best imitated with a matte paint with no sheen – a base shade, a fine lightening of the crown and the brim and a discreet wash into the shadow under the brim. The band around the crown is painted with a fine brush in a shade half a tone darker.
This is an accessory for figures, not a kit on its own. Paints, glue and the figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
