An accessory set for Hawker Hunter models in the F.58A version in 1:48 scale. It replaces the landing flap area so that the flaps can be shown lowered and with matching internal detail. It is not an airplane model but a part for an existing plastic kit. The designation F.58A refers to the export form of the Hunter delivered to the Swiss Air Force, so the set makes sense above all for those who are building the model in Swiss colors. In its day the Hunter became one of the most widespread Western European jet fighters and a number of countries operated it long after it had finished its service in Great Britain. Switzerland was among the users who kept the machine in active service for an exceptionally long time and kept adapting its armament and equipment. The large-area landing flaps on a Hunter are almost always lowered on the ground, which makes them one of the most conspicuous details of the whole aircraft.
The procedure is the same as with other resin correction sets: first washing off the mold release agent, then cutting the casting blocks off with a saw and dry sanding with a respirator. The key is patient dry-fitting, because once the original plastic area is cut away there is no going back. Fit and paint the interior before the wing is closed or before the model is turned into its final position. Swiss schemes tend to be in one color or in two shades, so the interior of the flaps looks best with a fine wash and a dry brush on the edges of the ribs. Gluing with super glue, ideally the gel type.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
