The Hawker Hunter was a British single-engined jet with a swept wing that first flew in 1951. The F.6 version was the main single-seat fighter variant of the Royal Air Force, powered by a more powerful Rolls-Royce Avon engine and recognizable by the dogtooth leading edge of the wing. The armament consisted of a removable pack of four 30 mm cannons in the forward fuselage. The Hunter flew with the RAF and with a number of foreign users, and in later years it moved to strike and training duties.
Decals hold reliably only on a smooth and glossy base. On a matte finish air is closed in under the carrier film and a milky veil forms around the marking, which modelers call silvering. Lay a thin coat of gloss varnish over the finished camouflage, therefore, let it dry properly and only then apply the decals. On the smooth surfaces of an airframe such as the Hunter has, the difference between a matte and a glossy base is particularly easy to see.
