An injection-molded plastic kit of the British fighter Hawker Hurricane in its less well-known reconnaissance form, in 1:48 scale from the Polish manufacturer Arma Hobby. It is a limited edition — besides quality plastic it contains self-adhesive masks for the glazing, accessories and a rich decal sheet with several schemes for photo-reconnaissance and fighter-reconnaissance machines deployed in tropical conditions.
The Hurricane was one of the key British fighters of the Second World War and it bore the main weight of the Battle of Britain. The Mk.II version received a more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and, in the Mk.IIb form, heavier armament as well. Reconnaissance Hurricanes were created by converting fighters — photographic cameras were fitted into the fuselage. Where there were not enough specialized Spitfires, Hurricanes handled photo-reconnaissance reliably, above all in the Middle Eastern and Asian theaters. The machines often carried a desert air intake filter.
Start with the cockpit — on a single-seat fighter it is clearly visible, so it pays to pick out the instrument panel and the belts. Glue the canopy glazing on and mask it with the enclosed masks before spraying. Glue the plastic with a liquid modeling cement, even out the base with primer and lay the paint down with an airbrush. Tropical schemes typically have desert camouflage above and a light undersurface; fit the tanks and the external stores according to the version you choose. You will create the fine weathering and the exhaust stains with washes and a fine airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
