About product

RESArm 1:48 Hawker Siddeley Red Top (1:48)

This is a resin accessory from RESArm, not a standalone aircraft model. The set contains the parts of the British infrared-guided Red Top air-to-air missile in a faithful rendering, intended to hang under the wing or the fuselage of a jet fighter model in 1:48 scale. The castings are fine and detailed, with sharp edges on the stabilizing surfaces.

The real subject

Red Top was the third British air-to-air missile to enter series service, developed on from Firestreak. It entered service in the middle of the 1960s and armed the English Electric Lightning and de Havilland Sea Vixen fighters. Compared with its predecessor it offered a higher speed, a longer range, better agility and more sensitive infrared seekers.

Usage tips

First wash the mold release agent residue off the parts, separate the casting blocks carefully and clean up the mating surfaces. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways while sanding. Preparation with a primer before painting is recommended.

Who it is for

  • Modelers building British postwar fighters in 1:48
  • Anyone interested in faithful armament and superdetailing
  • Advanced builders used to working with resin

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
