Quickboost is a supplementary range by the company Aires focused on quick and straightforward improvements to kits. This set offers exhausts cast in resin as a replacement for the plastic parts on a Hawker Typhoon model in 1:48 scale. The main advantages are the drilled (open) exhaust openings, since plastic exhausts from kits tend to be blind, and finer surface detail including a more accurate shape of the stacks. This is not a kit: neither the aircraft model nor plastic parts are included in the package.
The Hawker Typhoon was a British fighter-bomber of the Second World War with the powerful Napier Sabre engine. As a high-altitude fighter it did not do particularly well, but it made its name in attacks on ground targets: with bombs and rockets it became one of the most feared weapons against vehicles and lines of communication. The short side exhausts at the engine are among its most conspicuous details and tend to be sooted, so on a model every inaccuracy shows.
For modelers who want to raise one of the most visible details of a model quickly. Working with resin calls for a little experience (cutting, sanding, cyanoacrylate), but changing the exhausts is one of the easiest and most rewarding modifications there is.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package. When sanding resin, use respiratory protection and work wet.
