This item is an accessory for painting, not a kit. You get a sheet of self-adhesive masks whose outlines are pre-cut to fit the clear parts of a particular kit in 1:48 scale. The material is kabuki tape — the thin Japanese masking tape that Eduard uses for its masks. It clings even to the glossy surface of a canopy, and yet after spraying it can be peeled off calmly, without tearing the dried paint away underneath.
The Heinkel He 162 Spatz, meaning sparrow, was a German jet fighter from the very end of the Second World War. You can spot it at a glance: a single jet engine mounted on top of the fuselage spine, behind the cockpit. The design was rushed through in extreme haste and made heavy savings on strategic metals — a number of parts were wooden. The aircraft was meant to be built in large numbers and, as originally envisaged, to be flown even by pilots with minimal training, which proved illusory in practice. It saw only marginal combat use.
For the modeler who is building the He 162A-2 in 1:48 scale and does not want to risk smeared canopy frames or scratches on the glazing. The masks are tied by their cut to a particular kit, so check which kit this set is intended for.
This is not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
