The wheels are usually cast in gray resin with fine detail on the tread and the hub.
Resin wheels have sharper detail and a cleaner surface than production plastic parts and take paint well. A mask for spraying the tire and the rim separately is usually included. You swap the wheels for the ones from the kit, so the finished model gains a more faithful landing gear.
First wash the parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. It is an accessory for more advanced modelers.
