Photo-etched set for a model of the Hunter F.6 aircraft in 1:48 scale, listed under the part number 49969. It will replace thicker plastic parts with thin metal ones.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hunter was a British single-seat jet fighter aircraft of the 1950s with a characteristic swept wing. The F.6 version belonged to the main fighter forms and machines of this type served not only with Britain but in a number of other countries. In 1:48 scale it is a rewarding model: an aircraft clean in shape, on which work with detail shows well.
Photo-etched parts are made by etching metal sheet, so they have a thickness that cannot be reached with injection-molded plastic. Where the real thing is genuinely thin, a metal part looks natural, whereas a plastic one always looks coarser. Which particular areas of the model the set deals with and in what order they are fitted is given in the manufacturer's instructions; from them you will also see what has to be removed from the plastic parts beforehand.
Separate the parts on a hard smooth surface with a sharp blade and perpendicular pressure, not by twisting. Make the bends in an etching bender or between a blade and a ruler, always onto a sharp edge. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue or with epoxy, because cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Before painting, degrease the parts, lay down a suitable base and apply the paint in thin coats, so that it does not flood the fine relief.
The set is intended for a particular kit, so check which one before buying; the manufacturer gives that in the instructions. Unless stated otherwise, the kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
