Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the Hawker Hunter in the FGA.9, FR.10 and GA.11 versions in 1:48 scale. Eduard uses the designation TFace for sets that are cut so that the glazing can be masked from both sides. Against the basic masking set for the same type, this variant is therefore intended for the inner side of the canopy as well.
The cabin of a jet aircraft on a model tends to be open or well lit, and the frame of the canopy is painted in the interior color from the inside rather than in the color of the fuselage. When it is masked only from the outside, clear plastic shows through from the inside and the illusion of glazing falls apart. The TFace set lets you spray the inner frames separately, so the canopy looks the same as on the real machine. That pays off above all when you plan to display the cabin open.
Work from the back forwards: first apply the inner masks, spray the interior color and let it cure thoroughly. Only then fit the part into the fuselage and mask the outside. Clear parts are best glued with a cement intended for canopies, which does not fog the plastic. Apply the paint in thin layers and take the mask off as soon as possible after it is dry to the touch, so that the finish is not pulled off. Remains of adhesive after the mask can be removed by careful wiping with a cotton swab.
