F/A-18C Hornet exhaust nozzles, closed position 1:72 are an Aires resin detail set for faithful nozzles on this carrier multirole fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set brings a pair of engine exhaust nozzles in the closed (drawn-in) position for a model of the F/A-18C Hornet carrier multirole fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory with which you replace the simplified nozzles from a plastic kit. The castings faithfully capture the drawn-in petals and the inner structure that the nozzles have with the engines running without afterburner.
The F/A-18C Hornet is a single-seat carrier multirole fighter and attack aircraft powered by a pair of turbofans with afterburners. The nozzles with their movable petals change their area with the engine regime; in the closed position the petals are drawn in, which corresponds to ordinary running of the engine. The nozzles are among the conspicuous details at the tail of the aircraft.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Metal shades and opalescent and burnt tones will capture the metallic and heat-stressed surfaces; a final toning with pigments and a wash will give the nozzles a realistic look.
The detail set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin part. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
